Is your moving day just around the corner? Are you worried that you’re not going to find any moving supplies and materials? We know that packing can be a rather complicated, time-consuming process. Another fact is that it can also be quite pricey. However, there are ways to significantly reduce the cost of your packing procedure. One example of how you can do that is by looking for free moving supplies and materials – specifically, moving boxes. If you didn’t already know, there are so many places where you can get free moving boxes, including various stores, food chains, and even schools! If you would like to know where you can look for free moving boxes, continue reading!
1: Bookstores, grocery stores, and supermarkets
The first place to check for free moving boxes would be a grocery store, or even better, a supermarket. These businesses usually have an abundant in boxes of all sizes. This is because they receive orders from other companies and businesses or a daily basis, in order to be able to stock up their store. If you have a grocery store that you go to on a daily basis, this may be the perfect opportunity to grab some free boxes. Even better, you can go to a supermarket, as they will probably have large boxes that you could repurpose for any large belongings that you may want to back. On the other hand, if you’re looking for smaller boxes, try a bookstore or a library. They will definitely have something to offer you. Small boxes could be repurposed for packing your own books, or toiletries, cosmetics, etc.
2: Liquor stores or other specialty stores
Another great idea is to go to a liquor store, or any other specialty store, such as a craft store. They also receive products on a daily basis, which usually arrive in boxes, thus making them a perfect place to ask for free boxes!
3: Local fast food chains, including McDonalds, Starbucks, KFC, etc.
Due to their huge demand, fast food chains, such as McDonalds and KFC, usually have a large number of boxes that they don’t need anymore. Instead of them throwing it away, you could use those boxes to pack up your belongings. Ask your local fast food chain if they could provide you with any free boxes for your relocation!
4: Websites such as Freecycle
If you don’t feel comfortable with asking around for free boxes, you can always go to a website that’s specifically dedicated to exchange of free goods, including boxes. One great example of such a website is Freecycle. Freecycle is a non-profit organization that connects locals and allows them to give and receive items that can be recycled, which obviously includes boxes. Give it a try and see how it goes!
