Moving to a new state for college
The time has come – college is about to start soon and you need to move to your dorm. But, chances are, this is your first ever relocation. So how do you exactly do it? Before you get down to business, we suggest you read this short guide State to State Movers have prepared for you. It just might make your life a little bit easier.
Take only the essentials with you. Before you start packing, sit down and make an inventory of the things you need to take and the things you want to take. For example, you don’t really need to take seven different pairs of shoes during your first trip to the dorm.
Ship some essentials even before you move. Don’t take everything with you. Chances are, you will end up with four large suitcases that are too difficult to carry. Our suggestion – ship things such as blankets and other dorm essentials beforehand.
Have a survival kit. On the day of the relocation, you should have a survival kit with you. This is a conveniently sized bag with essentials such as toiletries and spare clothes. It should contain only the things that will come in handy if the delivery of your belongings is delayed.
Consider buying the things you can’t or don’t want to pack. As we already said, you don’t need to (and shouldn’t) take everything you own with you. In addition, if there is something that you do need, but for some reason can’t take with you, look into where you can buy it.
Communicate with your roommates. If you will be living with other people, talk to them before you start packing. Agree on who will bring what, so you don’t end up with four microwaves in one kitchen.
